"The Criminals Prayer"

Verse 1:
I watched them as they beat Him, they spat upon His head,
And several times I turned around remembering what He said,
And even though I cursed Him when He has passed my way,
I knew down deep inside, some day I’d have to pay,
Because I knew He was the Son of God,
Yes I knew He was the Son of God,

Verse 2:
Then the soldier pushed me, he said to move along,
I asked them why they brought Him and what He had done wrong,
Suddenly the cross fell, it knocked Him to His knees,
It fell right upon His back, I knew that they'd soon see,
That He was the Son of God, Yes He was the Son of God,

Verse 3:
The sun shined down upon us as we made it to the top,
On a hill called, Golgatha, I watched as He was mocked,
I too began to wonder and I turned to Him and screamed,
If You are the Son of God, You’ll make them all believe,
But I knew He was the Son of God,
Yes I knew He was the Son of God,

Verse 4:
Then they laid us down and nailed us to those trees,
I knew down deep inside this man could make me free,
As the crosses were lifted, it seemed we hung for hours and hours,
It was there I saw His love, and there I felt His power,
And I knew He was the Son of God,
Yes I knew He was the Son of God,

Verse 5:
I turned my head toward Him, I said, “Lord remember me!”
And He spoke I felt His peace, I knew that I was free,
The sky turned dark, the sun was gone as He lifted up His head,
With all His love He gave His life, I knew that He was dead,
And He was the Son of God, Yes He was the Son of God,
